Samsung Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The RF23M8090SG is Samsung's most recent and most elegant counter-depth French door refrigerator, priced at $4,200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also performed well during our cooling test, but we don't like the gimmicky handles or the plastic crisper bins.
One thing that sets the RF23M8090SG apart is the Bespoke line, which lets you customize your fridge by removing colored panels that can be swapped out when you're bored of the ones you have currently. There are 11 different colors, from soft pastels to more vibrant hues, and four metallic finishes. Some of these panels can be personalized with text or photos which makes the fridge a personal touch point that can match your tie-dye Crocs, Rick Owens dress or Andy Warhol banana neon sign.
The LED lighting can be switched to a different color which is a nice option. The interior of the refrigerator is finished in a way which reduces smudges, and makes cleaning a breeze. The only flaws that really bother the RF23M8090SG are its crowded beverage center, and a little learning curve to open the door-indoor feature which houses a water dispenser as well as a pitcher. You have to feel for a lever on the underside of the door halfway across, and once you've done that you will be able to open a second door within the refrigerator that houses the docking station for the pitcher as well as the water dispenser, and two shelves for drinks.
The 6.8 cubic-foot freezer compartment is big enough to hold a lot of frozen foods and features an impressive slide-out drawer system that allows you to get the food you're searching for without opening the whole compartment. The freezer also has a butter-bin style compartment to store small items, and a large capacity storage drawer that can store bulkier frozen foods. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking to enjoy the convenience of this style without the additional height, a counter-depth refrigerator is the best option. This Frigidaire model that we've extensively tested and received an above-average rating in our reviews due to its reasonable price and thoughtful features, such as an adjustable temperature drawer.
However, it has a few minor problems. Our tests show that the FGHB2866PF can heat up quite a lot in the freezer and get uncomfortably hot in the innermost shelves of the fridge. This is evident in our heat maps, which show how internal temperatures vary from minute to minute. The orange region in the top right, representing the butter bin, has been particularly warm for most of our testing period. It might not appear too bad at first however, it means that the fridge is spending a significant portion of its time above 33 degrees.
It's important to note that this model is not Energy Star certified, which could be important to certain buyers. But the real problem here is that it's not a top-quality fridge, and the lack of modern features and durable construction make it difficult to recommend over better options in this price range.
In many ways, the Frigidaire looks and feels like the stainless steel model of fridge you might see in your local appliance store. It's a good choice, with a smooth finish that looks great and is impervious to smudges, but it does not make a lot of an effort to distinguish itself from competitors with more features and cost less.
Still, if you're shopping for a cheap counter-depth French door refrigerator and don't have the funds to splurge on our best selections, then the FGHC2331PF is worth looking into. It's got enough storage to meet the needs of the majority of families and does an excellent job of keeping food fresh. Even even if it's not a green unit, it's still much less expensive than our best-rated models.
