This model features an ice maker that can make fresh, clean ice in a matter of minutes. It's simple to use, as well. The dispensers for water and ice are inside the fridge, not in the front, so they don't mar the sleek look of the exterior. The dispensers can be used with any cold beverage, including juice and sports drinks. This refrigerator has a robust stainless steel finish that withstands scratches and dents. It's fingerprint-resistant, too. If you're worried about smudges, consider a cleaning solution that gets rid of fingerprints without harsh chemicals.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

LG counter-depth refrigerators are small and offer a lot of space. These counter-depth refrigerators are also cheaper than standard-depth French-door refrigerators, and can remove the necessity for an under-counter freezer. The LG Smart Mirror InstaView Counter-Depth Refrigerator (LMWC23626S) that offers the capacity of a standard refrigerator with modern and sleek design, isn't an exception. It also has an internal dispenser that allows for easy access to filtered drinking water.

This model's exterior showcases a fingerprint-resistant stainless steel finish and a mirrored InstaView panel that adds to the modern look of the interior. The door bins are spacious and the top shelf can be folded down to create half-depth shelves that allow larger items to fit. The bottom of the refrigerator is stocked with crisper drawers, and the deli drawer that is full width is perfect for meat or fresh produce.

A recessed ice maker can be found located on the back of the refrigerator. It helps to save space and allows you to store an additional bag of ice. The refrigerator uses a door-cooling system, which uses vents in the doors of the fridge and freezer to push cold air into the refrigerator. It prevents hot spots and helps keep temperatures consistent throughout the fridge.

This LG refrigerator stood out during our tests. It provides ample space to provide for a family, however, we found a few annoying issues. First, the freezer drawers don't stay at the temperature we'd like. The temperature of the middle drawer climbed to 41° during our highest use test, which is the temperature needed to freeze ice cream and other frozen food items. The temperature of the rest of the freezer remained at around 36 degrees.

The refrigerator doors also have sunken handles that make it difficult for those with smaller hands to close. It might seem like a minor thing however we prefer front-mounted handles on fridges so they're easier to open and close.

The fridge is costly however it is worth it for those who want a sleek look in their kitchen. We recommend this fridge to those looking to upgrade their refrigerator or for those who are building a new home and want an integrated design in the kitchen.

Samsung Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The RF23M8090SG is Samsung's most recent and most elegant counter-depth French door refrigerator, priced at $4,200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also performed well during our cooling test, but we don't like the gimmicky handles or the plastic crisper bins.

One thing that sets the RF23M8090SG apart is the Bespoke line, which lets you customize your fridge by removing colored panels that can be swapped out when you're bored of the ones you have currently. There are 11 different colors, from soft pastels to more vibrant hues, and four metallic finishes. Some of these panels can be personalized with text or photos which makes the fridge a personal touch point that can match your tie-dye Crocs, Rick Owens dress or Andy Warhol banana neon sign.

The LED lighting can be switched to a different color which is a nice option. The interior of the refrigerator is finished in a way which reduces smudges, and makes cleaning a breeze. The only flaws that really bother the RF23M8090SG are its crowded beverage center, and a little learning curve to open the door-indoor feature which houses a water dispenser as well as a pitcher. You have to feel for a lever on the underside of the door halfway across, and once you've done that you will be able to open a second door within the refrigerator that houses the docking station for the pitcher as well as the water dispenser, and two shelves for drinks.

The 6.8 cubic-foot freezer compartment is big enough to hold a lot of frozen foods and features an impressive slide-out drawer system that allows you to get the food you're searching for without opening the whole compartment. The freezer also has a butter-bin style compartment to store small items, and a large capacity storage drawer that can store bulkier frozen foods. The drawer can be locked with an access code to keep intruders out and also has an attractive LED light to let you see what's inside at an instant. The freezer's also able to track energy use and help you reduce your power bill with the SmartThings with smart-enabled Energy mode.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

French door refrigerators give a sleek design to any kitchen, and are a good fit in a variety of room sizes. If you're looking to enjoy the convenience of this style without the additional height, a counter-depth refrigerator is the best option. This Frigidaire model that we've extensively tested and received an above-average rating in our reviews due to its reasonable price and thoughtful features, such as an adjustable temperature drawer.

However, it has a few minor problems. Our tests show that the FGHB2866PF can heat up quite a lot in the freezer and get uncomfortably hot in the innermost shelves of the fridge. This is evident in our heat maps, which show how internal temperatures vary from minute to minute. The orange region in the top right, representing the butter bin, has been particularly warm for most of our testing period. It might not appear too bad at first however, it means that the fridge is spending a significant portion of its time above 33 degrees.

It's important to note that this model is not Energy Star certified, which could be important to certain buyers. But the real problem here is that it's not a top-quality fridge, and the lack of modern features and durable construction make it difficult to recommend over better options in this price range.

In many ways, the Frigidaire looks and feels like the stainless steel model of fridge you might see in your local appliance store. It's a good choice, with a smooth finish that looks great and is impervious to smudges, but it does not make a lot of an effort to distinguish itself from competitors with more features and cost less.

Still, if you're shopping for a cheap counter-depth French door refrigerator and don't have the funds to splurge on our best selections, then the FGHC2331PF is worth looking into. It's got enough storage to meet the needs of the majority of families and does an excellent job of keeping food fresh. Even even if it's not a green unit, it's still much less expensive than our best-rated models.
